Biscayne Atlantic principals have over 35 years of experience in the real estate industry and have collectively owned and operated commercial and multi-family properties in 16 states valued in excess of $2B. Our current portfolio consists of over $300M in multifamily and commercial properties in the southeastern United States, and we have successfully divested over $100M in assets since 2016.
Biscayne Atlantic was formed in 2009 by real estate industry veterans seeking to take advantage of distressed residential and commercial opportunities in South Florida. After successfully acquiring, repositioning and selling multiple fractured condo projects, our focus shifted back to our roots of value-add real estate investments.
Since 2012, we have purchased over 2,000 multifamily apartment units and 1,100,000 square feet of commercial space throughout the Southeastern US. Our core principles are founded on precise investment selection, thorough due diligence, superior deal structuring and execution, strong financial management and a proactive “hands-on” asset management approach.
David Garfinkle oversees Biscayne Atlantic’s strategic vision and focuses on business development, transactional execution and investor relations. Garfinkle is a founding member of Biscayne Atlantic. He has been an active real estate investor specializing in the acquisition and repositioning of distressed and underperforming real estate for more than 30 years and a principal in deals that total more than $2 billion in transaction value. Garfinkle is a past chairman of the board of the Jewish Federation of Broward County and the former regional board chair of the Anti-Defamation League. He graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in history and finance.
Craig Sternberg focuses on growing the Biscayne Atlantic portfolio through detailed and sophisticated analysis of target acquisitions. He is responsible for creating and maintaining both equity and debt relationships and has executed over $1.5 billion of structured real estate finance. Sternberg is directly involved in acquisitions, due diligence and financial reporting. Prior to joining Biscayne Atlantic, Sternberg also held the position of CFO of Ascot Development, a South Florida based real estate investment group. Sternberg obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida State University and earned his master’s of accounting from Florida International University.
Benjamin is responsible for overseeing acquisitions, due diligence and asset management for our commercial real estate portfolio. Prior to joining Biscayne Atlantic, Benjamin served as Vice President of Simplex Mortgage Brokers, where he managed portfolios of performing and non-performing hard money loans. Benjamin received a Master’s Degree in Real Estate from Florida International University, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Highest Honors from the University of Florida. He is also a Real Estate Broker licensed in the State of Florida.
